Hi there! 

I'm Marieke- a writer/director, stop-motion animator AND puppeteer, working hard to create my own independent films. 

 

At the core of what I do, is telling dark, dramatic stories that explore nuanced and messy topics, however in a way that embraces dumb fun (i.e: gore, violence and lots of dark humour). My work is defined by a unique, often absurdist sense of humour with bleak themes and social commentary laced throughout.I also bring my own unique perspective, as a politically engaged trans woman and lover of story, into everything I create and do.

Right now, my focus is on developing my brand, building an audience for my work and eventually creating my own independent production company with a network of like-minded creatives. 

I'm also deep into production of my first independent feature- 'Beta Wolf': a stop-motion werewolf film exploring misogyny and incel culture amongst young men.
